This is Fine

Tell me where you’ve been and hold the key up
I’m trapped in a room with no windows
There’s a mattress on the floor
in the company of Darkness and Sickness

My friends return to me
Hello, lovely hate
There the skin shakes,
as I rake the floor and my thoughts

Close my eyes again

Cornered, short breaths
Here I see all directions
Each with a new fire
Every object is burning

I stand in the center
They smile in the distance, the unknown
Variables don’t reach through the smoke
Instead, they turn and leave

Open my eyes the last time

Pitch dark and inhaling smoke
Skin is worn to nothing
The room is smaller
No answer from beyond the walls
